New Partnership With Carnelian Heart Publishing Ltd (UK)
Exciting News! We are now official distributors of the Zimbabwean founded imprint based in Wales.
Exploring and promoting books written by African and Black writers is our main mission at Harare Book Club. We passionately advance representation as key to encouraging readers, especially children and teens, to get engaged in books.
This is why we are delighted to share Carnelian Heart Publishing Ltd’s amazing culturally relevant novels, memoirs, poetry collections, and children’s books with our community. We have previously read Carnelian title 3:15 AM and Other Short Stories by Rudo Manyere as our book of the month, and look forward to adding more to our reading list!
Carnelian Heart was founded in 2020 by the amazing Samantha Rumbidzai Vazhure. She is a bilingual award-winning poet, novelist, librettist, short story writer, translator and visual artist who grew up in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.
Samantha resides in Wales, usually writes about matters of the heart, the human condition, the migrant experience, womanhood and equality. Her poetry collection, Starfish Blossoms, won the National Arts Merit Award for Outstanding Poetry Book, in Zimbabwe. In 2023 Samantha was voted African publisher of the year by Brittle Paper as part of their Literary Person of the year Awards.
Carnelian Heart Publishing mission to amplify the voices of Zimbabwean writers and to democratise African literature, perfectly aligns with ours at HBC! To date, Carnelian Heart has produced nearly 50 works comprising literary prose and poetry, including Samantha Vazhure’s own. We highly recommend you pick up one of their amazing titles.
