2025 January - June Reading List
Announcing Harare Book Club’s 2025 Reading List!
“Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger.”
- Ben Okri
Born out of understanding that the literary arts are key to promoting cultural pride and identity, since 2018 Harare Book Club has passionately championed literature and books written by African and Black authors.
Our 2025 Reading List kicks off key collaborations with leading African publishing houses, who share our vision and love for authentic stories emanating from across the continent. We’re excited to share that we are partnering with Cassava Republic of Nigeria and Jacana Media and Picador Africa (imprint of Pan Macmillan SA) from South Africa.
Reading can be an isolating endeavour, by working closely publishers we aim to expose book lovers to engaging discourse with authors and literary advocates. Our community will likewise benefit from being introduced to a wider range of books crossing physical, imaginative, and thematic borders.
With this in mind, the January - June book list spans from Sierra Leone to Lesotho, and of course Zimbabwe is in the mix! Our curated selection tackles a wide array of issues such as; challenged historical narratives, displacement, and queer identities.
We hope you will join our reading journey!

February - Ours, Phillip B. Williams
March - In The Company of Men, Véronique Tadjo
