We’re please to host writer, poet, visual artist and Véronique Tadjo, in virtual discussion to discuss our March #bookofthemonth ‘In The Company of Men’ (2021) translated by John Cullen. A masterful retelling of the 2014 Ebola Crisis in West Africa narrated from a series of different perspectives that illuminate the human and ecological impact of the outbreak. In the Company of Men was awarded the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for fiction in 2022. It also won the Best Fiction Novel of the 2023 National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences in South Africa.

Véronique was born in Paris, France and grew up in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. She shares her time between London, Paris and Abidjan.

Her novels have been translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and Japanese. Some of her titles in English are: ‘As the Crow Flies’ (2001), The Shadow of Imana: Travels To The Heart of Rwanda’ (2002), ‘Queen Pokou’ (2005), Far from my Father’ (2014), and ‘Amour: Fields of Battle, Fields of Love’, published by The Massachusetts Review, e-book series (2019). Her latest novel is the 2024 release in french is Je remercie la nuit’ (“I thank the night”).
