Book of The Month:
The Creation of Half Broken People, by Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu
Our first Meet The Author session of 2025 is with best-selling Zimbabwean author Siphiwe Gloria Ndlovu.
The Creation of Half-Broken People is Ndlovu’s latest release published by Picador Africa. An epic tale about the lives of several women connected over generations through circumstance, tragedy, and misremembering.
‘He wrote a letter telling me that he was taking back the name he had given me because it was his mother's, and I did not deserve it. He told me to tell my mother to ask my real father to name me. In this way, my father took from me more than he ever gave. I can only make sense of my father in retrospect. He is a man who proudly gave me his mother's name; and, when I turned out not to be what he expected, he took that name from me and then travelled with it to places far, wide and unknown - places to Which he knew I would never follow him to reclaim what I then felt was rightfully mine.’
The online book discussion will be held on Saturday 25th January, at 3pm CAT.
